Just did the SV650 caliper swap...

The pads that were on the SV650 caliper have a ton of life left on them, but I have new Galfer pads laying around (I actually have an SV650 as well) - should I just put the new pads on the KLR? The new rotor is shiny and pretty

I don't know anything about Galfer stuff. I'm sure it's fine, but I am a big fan of OEM parts, especially on Japanese bikes. If I had good, stock pads...I'd run them.

Using a file remove some aluminium from the caliper name on the front .just keep your file flat and go forward only.make the name shine and look much better.

A KLR should not "Shine".

You can "dress" the used one......I'm lazy so I'd just use the new ones. Whatever you do, you are going to LOVE the improvement. Night and Day difference. Did you do the dime mod? ss line?

Cheers,
Dave

Didn't need to do the dime mod with new SS lines - the difference is ridiculous. I almost got killed in Yellowstone last September due to an inability to stop fast enough, necessitating this mod. Man, it's GREAT lol

Yep; works great. FYI the dime mod only affects lever position so if you're happy where it is, great. The SS lines affect feel so again....

Cheers,
Dave
