Front suspension sag setting

I have unfortunately gained some weight. My bike has the Cogent Moab Springs and racetech emulators in the forks. Before I go installing longer pre load spacers in the forks, how long is too long of a spacer?

That's a good question; at what point should you opt for new fork springs instead of using too much preload? .....unfortunately I don't have an answer for that question.....but I'd bet that Rick or Todd at Cogent can tell you. ;-)

my guess is that after going an inch or two beyond the recommended spacer length of 5" or so, you should consider new springs.

Got a reply from Rick:

Don’t be too concerned with your front sag. Yes it is important but it can be run at various amounts depending on rider preference and measuring without accurately accounting for static friction will give readings that are quite variable. I wouldn’t like seeing the spacer more than about 135mm long. Assuming your spring is 490 mm. You may want to use higher oil level than the 190mm the factory recommends. Try 150mm.

Thanks for the update; good info and it makes sense. That said, I don't think there would be a problem with going to 135mm with the preload spacer, it certainly doesn't cost much. That said the oil level does make a huge difference and I had to play with mine after my DDC/Spring install to get it to feel how I wanted it to....as usual Rick's advice helped get me dialed in. Of course there is another option for adjusting preload which is much easier: http://www.motocd.com/product/adjust...load-fork-cap/
