a couple of issues

Hey guys I got my bike back together after the chain incident. just a couple of issues that may be nothing but now i'm paranoid. first off i ordered a chain/sprocket kit from klr650.com the new front sprocket has play when the nut is torqued down when the old one didnt ridin about 300 miles no issues?

second, I pop a lot on decel and run rough, bucking/surging at around 4000 rpm when rolling through town, fine when cruising but when i slow down to go through a town the bike surges a lot and pops, too rich?

third, i put the kenda k270's on but didn't have them balanced anybody got any thoughts on that? anybody every have any issues?

anybody got an od green rear fender they want to sell?

That ain't right with the sprocket. I seem to recall that some sprockets have a shoulder on them and some come with no shoulder but need a spacer. I could be a "spacer" on that, but you ought to check the thickness of the old sprocket vs the new one. They should be the same thickness.

The popping on decel and surging sounds like a lean condition. Is this a new phenomenon? Did you change anything recently?

If you run the K270s and don't feel any bad vibes, it's probably OK. One thing you might do is take the front wheel off and slip the axle in the hub, then lay the axle across a pair of level supports. Lightly spin the wheel and see where it comes to rest. If it always comes to rest with the same spot at 6 o'clock, it's heavy at that spot. You could add (or move an existing) weight at 12 o'clock to compensate. Perhaps others can chime in with their own balancing experiences. I've never gotten overly worried about it.

I've never seen a balancing weight on the back wheel.

when i put the new airbox in i took out the snorkel, and originally i jetted it for the L mod and pipe, maybe i'll pop the snorkel in and see how she runs, yea i think im gunna get a spacer i just need to make sure i don't push the sprocket out to far and put side to side tension on the chain..

I think the manual will give you a spec for how far out from the case the chain is supposed to be. On a stock sprocket the shoulder goes to the inside to properly space the chain. If you have a spacer, it goes on the inside.
