I'm trying to bomb-proof my bike as much as possible for an upcoming trip, and found that the CDI box (2004) I have is 10x to 100x off on some of the resistance values specified in the Clymer manual. I'm sure I was measuring in K Ohms, and some values were in spec, as a sanity check.
Here are my measured values. Spec in top left of cell, measured in bottom right. As you see, it's majorly out of spec...
Does anyone else here have their measured resistance values? Any thoughts about these ones? I've only ridden the bike for a bout an hour, but it wasn't misfiring or anything, timing seemed right enough. But this test has made me nervous.
Anyway, I found a new Caltric brand CDI for $35 on eBay: https://goo.gl/b8ETeZ
Has anyone used a Caltric CDI? Or an aftermarket CDI at all? Any thoughts appreciated.
