Best way to remove paint from the plastic....

So when I bought my (used) KLR, the previous owner had spray painted it black. I want to safely remove the paint and repaint it with truck bed liner paint. I always liked the look of it and I feel like the KLR is the perfect bike for it. My question is what’s the best way to remove the spray paint without damaging the plastic? Also, the best way to remove the “KLR” decal from the tank?

Thanks in advance

I TBL'd mine!!!

Here's my TBL'd '03 Tank (I did entire bike in it, I just did some extra work to my Tank)...

I'd just scuff up all my Plastic to the point of all the paint bein' goodNscuffed. I'd sand finer and finer until I thought the TBL'd take care of the rest. Then I TBL'd the painted plastic where some spots were sanded paint and some were down to the Plastic (say, at a deeper scratch somewheres). It all came out to a very nice finish ALTHOUGH, the TBL surface will attract dirt like no other paint can (grainy and traps the dirt). I'm trying to figure out a California CarDuster for the bike which'll be more along the lines of like a big-a$$ paint brush or like a sable-hair brush from like a shoe shine kit. It's a different clean up though with water it's like any other clean up.

And oh-by-the-way, TBL is pretty much non-removable (I've worked with Rustoleum on this), so it really don't matter none how much you preserve Plastic though you get a GoldStar for the thought!

Garage
Acetone, get it at Lowe’s, Home Depot or hardware store.

I tried everything, scrubbed my arse off trying to remove paint from plastic. Finally tried acetone, and my paint just wiped off like magic. Good luck!
