Unhappy !HELP! Welding Help Needed In Los Angeles Area

Hi everyone, this is my first post, but I purchased a 2000 KLR back in August and this forum has been an amazing resource, so thank you all!

I'm on an indefinite road trip from Vancouver, Canada, and I'm currently in Los Angeles. My bike came with a Caribou luggage system with their older square style rack, and unfortunately the rack just broke.

I'm about to go repair it with some JB Weld Steel Stik but I was hoping there might be someone with a welding rig in the area that could help me with a sturdier solution.

I'm also planning on contacting Caribou to see if they'll help me out at all, although the PO is the one who bought the rack, and it's a discontinued style (obviously for a reason).

I'll post some pictures after I go Steel Stik it. For now here's some content of my bike thus far.

I'd hold off on the epoxy repair. It will make a later welded repair more difficult. You'll have to clean all of it off before welding, I'd try to get it welded first.

Where are you? I’m in Van Nuys area in the San Fernando Valley North of Los Angeles. Have a mig welder. Just an amature welder, last resort. I’ll be home after 12 today.

Hold off on the epoxy. Just makes a mess. The last-last resort.

Thank you both for your replies, and dan thank you so much for your offer. Unfortunately I have to relocate from the place I'm staying today, so I needed to apply to epoxy last night as an emergency fix.

Here are some photos of the state of the rack and my shoddy emergency repair:

You're welcome. Hopefully that holds so you can finish your trip. If not, that looks like a fairly easy welding repair. Or you could bolt a flat bracket on each side if you get access to a drill and bits.
Could also strap across your pannier such that the strap could hold the bars together in place.
