Swing arm pivot bolt advice

Working on the bike all night. Seeing how I'm this far into the bike i wanted to pull the motor and have the frame and sub-frame painted, but as you can guess my (new to me) 1987 klr has never had maintenance, at least not this much lol. Any ideas on getting the swing-arm pivot bolt to come out? My reading on the site were; soak it in pb blaster(did this alot even had the bike on its side for a few days) it spins with some resistance now but wont budge no matter how hard i wack it. I've heard alot of Pb, alot of heat, alot of impact both left and right, ad a decent amount of wacking. currently do not own a torch or an impact. honestly dont have the money to buy an air-compressor at the moment but get one soon.:/ thanks in advance!

P.s while im here any advice on the tank, petcock, and the carbs? Tank is a bit rusty and dusty -just curious what most people do or use. (My dad always used toilet bowl cleaner for most of it then two stroke oil when it drys to keep it from rusting) The petcock could use a good cleaning or a new one altogether. And as far as the carbs they're horrible, even after cleaning. I've heard dipping it in "chem dip" or even heard of someone using original pine-sol. Anyone used these "re-build kits" online? or have any ideas? im sure all the little rubber pieces are shot to hell.

Sorry you haven’t received a reply. Firstly I would suggest adding your location info to your profile. Maybe another forum member close to you can offer assistance and maybe has tools that you don’t.

As far as the swing arm bolt is concerned I think you’ve read the advice you seek. Patience, swearing and beer will all help with the process. If you can spin it with an impact wrench while someone else is beating on it I think it will come out.

Maybe try Googling a bit on the fuel tank cleaning.

You can get a manual peacock from Eagle Mike.

I prefer to buy my carb parts from Kawasaki but the diaphragm can be gotten cheaper from a Harley dealer. Don’t recall which HD model had same carb but someone else will chime in with that.

Yep, you're on the right track. A few people couldn't get that bolt to budge even after several days of whacking so had to use a sawsall and cut it out - that's the last resort.

As far as the tank; personally, I wouldn't bother unless it's mint and you like the color - otherwise I'd replace the tank, preferably with an IMS 6.6 gall and never worry about rust, dents or scratches again.

Huh, once the bolt is cut the sleeve and bolt can be slid out of the Uni-Track rocker link. If its needle bearings are bad, they are available separately.
