Factory Chain

Hi all, was checking out my bike, 2006, and noticed that it has a master link on the chain. I have read and have seen on youtube that the KLR's came from the factory with a continuous chain, no master link. Does anyone know if this is true. Chain is in excellent shape. Bike only had 14800km on it when I got it last month. thanks

Do you mean a link with a different style of riveting? Yeah, that can still be factory. The factory chain was EK brand. I can't remember all the markings, EK520 VXZ or something like.

The last link installed is always the master link, even if it uses the Exact same rivet style of a truly endless chain, directly from the Chain Factory, a real pain to remove swingarms to install them!

They were riveted with a rivet style master link at the (Kawasaki) factory. You can even order a replacement, rivet style directly from Kawasaki.

Is yours an EK brand chain? Clean a few side plates & read the numbers.

Or does your chain use a clip type master link?
