smaller gas tank

I was wondering if anyone has ever installed or seen a smaller gas tank installed on a klr. Where I live there is a lot of single track and I would like to have a smaller tank to reduce weight.

Eh, not much help here. You could try and find a "C" model tank, they are about half the size, but made out of unobtanium, probably. There's a military tank that is quite small, and plastic, but definitely made from unobtanium.

With either of these options, your plastics won't match up, if you care about such things.

I know the tank is heavy, but you can reduce a lot of weight by not filling it up all the way (you can yell at me for being extremely obvious).

An IMS tank that you pretended only holds 3-4 gallons would help?

What toaster wants is very reasonable, but only source may be to set up a custom search for KRL model C tank and plastics on e-Bay and see what happens. Or, contact Acerbis and see if there is any way to score a military unit.

That's a toughy.. Hell, half the reason I bought the KRL over other dual sports was because of the high fuel capacity.. I had a XR650L and got tired of looking for gas every 90 miles.

If you're trying to save weight, Lockjaw's Captain Obvious reply is perfect.. If you're looking for a smaller tank (and smaller bike) I'd either kick around finding a nice KDX200 or something similar.. I miss the days of riding a motorcycle that weighed less than me..

And yeah, the fuel capacity sealed the deal for me. Different strokes.

Nice. One of my favorite signs around here is the "Curvy roads" next 15 miles sign that falls right about in the exact middle of 40 miles of twisties along the coastal route I take all the time.

Oh, and the "Frogs on Road when Wet" sign that greets me on my jaunts into the headlands. Although, that one is more like 'Captain Huh?' than Captain Obvious.

Capt. out.
