Welcome!! About all you could do is contact a Kawi dealer and see if the part number's the same. You'd also need to know the amount of teeth on the sprocket.

I'm a little confused because the KLR600 was the predecessor to the KLR650. The last year of production for the 600 was 1986 and the 650's began in 1987. Could it be that you have a 600 motor mounted in a 1992 650 frame? That aside I thnk the 650 countersprocket cover will fit the 600.

Hi Slo-klr should have said i,m from scotland. In the uk the 600 was sold up to 1990 the 600 i bought was a spanish import on the V5 document (pink slip) its say,s declared manufactured 1992 i dont know much about the history of the klr but these could have been sold for a few years longer in spain. I,m hoping the 650 cover will fit they look identical other than triangular slots have been machined out of the 600 cover by the look of them and how rare to find one undamaged this might have been a design flaw that was addressed in the 650.

That explains a lot. I saw that you were from Scottland after I posted and wondered if it was still available over there.

For what it's worth, the previous owner of my '96 KLR650 had the factory service manuals. The main manual is for the KLR600, which has all of the engine details, and then there is a supplement for the 650 flavor. Given these were the factory service manuals, I would think the 650 was merely a bored or stroked version of the 600.

Farkled probably WAY too much, but good 20' footer for sure. '96 KLR, '06 HD VROD, (girl friend hauler), '05 HD Electra-Glide, heh it's a HD and I'm old now ;-) and I'm proud of riding a 800+ pound bike at my age :-)

Look under the offroad OEM pages at cheapcycleparts.com for a 1986 kl600. The part #14026 is $25.60. I hope that this is what you are looking for.

The part number is the same for the 1997 (I think that was after some engine changes), except it has a /A on it, so I suspect any changes are cosmetic.

Hi thanks for all your reply,s i ordered one from ebay from a 650 should be here any day i,ve been busy repairing other people botched job,s wiring has been a nightmare took me a day to sort that mess out neutral indicator was showing no matter what gear you had the bike in someone had bypassed the sidestand cut-out switch and the clutch lever switch was faulty once the clutch switch was repaired this solved the problem i prefer to bypass the sidestand switch myself so was glad i didnt need to reinstate that.Next on the list was to get rid of the K.N.filter last owner had fitted one of these the airbox is still present but the induction pipe was missing but ive been able to locate one on ebay bike has been running rich due to the K.N filter as he only chanded this and didnt bother to rejet the carb.
