Cool Got my "NERF" bars....Happy Trails

So I'm sitting wondering if I ought to work some today (it cuts into my day!) or swill some more coffee and venture into the arctic garage and install these new Happy Trails "Nerf" bars. Weren't "nerf balls" soft ?!? Anyway, thanks for the advice on these as I figured I needed something before I fall down in the dirt as this is my first dirt bike. FYI - Happy is having a sale on these, I got the nerf bars, the highway skid plate, and an aluminum skid plate for $299 and free shipping. When I saw a guy was selling a used set of just the bars on craigslist locally for $150 I figured this complete set would protect the bike and get it over with. Out to the garage....brrrr.

Farkled probably WAY too much, but good 20' footer for sure. '96 KLR, '06 HD VROD, (girl friend hauler), '05 HD Electra-Glide, heh it's a HD and I'm old now ;-) and I'm proud of riding a 800+ pound bike at my age :-)

Suggestion, when mounting your HT-PD nerfs to your pre-'08, insert the bolt for the upper left nerf from the RIGHT side of the frame (through the hole previously covered by the manufacturer's sticker); then, should you ever need access to the radiator cap, you need only remove one 10 mm nut and swing the nerf away . . .

This suggestion probabhly makes no sense in the abstract, but once you're engaged in the tangible installation, the meaning may become clearer.

That's a good idea, thanks! I hadn't gotten to the nerf's yesterday as I ended washing all the crud off the bottom of the engine, changing the oil and filter, and installing the skid plate. Maybe I can get the rest of it done before Superbowl.

Cheers,

John
