How to Clean Gas Tank

Hi, I'm new to the forum and have just started working on a 1995 KLR 650 with 2,200 miles. It looks like it sat for about 3 years with half a tank of gas. I have the tank off and have been trying to flush it. There is some surface rust in the tank, any suggestions how best to clean the tank for no problem future running. I assume the gas drain point is higher than the bottom of the tank? Will any sediment just sit in the tank. Open to all comments.

Electrolysis is your friend...

I restore old bikes, and I've done about ten tanks using electrolysis, with good results.

Thanks Kent. I couldn't think of the term when I read this earlier.

WOW!!
I was going to recommend taking the tank off and dropping in about a half gallon of diesel fuel and a couple hundred BB gun BB's and start shaking.. Electrolysis looks easier on the shoulders and less clean up..

Another link saved for future reference!! Thanks tkent02!!
