motor has gone belly up

On my trip home from Moab my motor started making a bunch of noise. At first I attributed it to the 110 degree heat and the motor being on the edge of overheating but even after cooling off some the noise never went away. The motor continued to run fine and got me home with out any issues other than this noisy clatter. So last week I started looking for the source of the noise. I dumped the oil and found a bunch of metal on the magnetic oil plug. Well my motor is now in pieces and I'm going to have to split the cases to get at what I'm thinking is a bad bearing. Not the way I wanted to start my summer.

Sorry to hear that, and a bummer way to start the summer. It'll be much better than new when you get done, though.

Well, heck, just find a fairly fresh Ninja motor and drop that in! No fuss, no muss.

Hey, Marky Mark, I can hold a wrench and drink a beer at the same time.

On the positive side you probably had a good time in Moab.

Watched your video of the noise. (How do you watch noise, you ask??) Anyway sounds like my VW Rabbit diesel. Not good and right in the middle of the riding season. Let us know what you find.

Is that a Shinko _ _ _ on the front?
