Newb... with an 09. Best Fuel??

What type of fuel is everyone using to get the smoothest performance out of your KLR? Brand? Octane?

P.S. I have read the manual for the fuel requirements...

I use 87 at whatever gas station happens to be near or cheapest and have never had any issues.

I have used 87 octane whenever it was available. I have found a number of these bikes that do not like high alcohol content ethanol / gasahol. Even E10 throws my bike into a full fledged tizzy.

Lower octane fuel is fine. These KLR's have great (too great) cooling systems.
Pinging is something I haven't even read about on the site, let alone ever experienced.

The manual also recommends 10w-40 oil. Most of us go one weight heavier. (15w-40)
The main bearings on a thumper take a bit of a beating.

Enjoy your motorcycle to it funnest, and welcome to the site.

Not sure if I've seen 86 octane around here.
