Can you give me the contact info for ordering sealed bearings from "FRED" and MOOSE? I don't have a clue where to find them....website links would be appreciated. I have searched the archive files, but didn't find exactly what I was looking for.
I have noted that the stock bearings all seem to be sealed on only ONE side....is that correct?
I don't have the tool to get the bearings out to repack them, so I'm kinda in a quandry as to what to do next. The maint manual I have says to use a special tool to remove the bearings. I am concerned that if I don't have that tool I will either damage the bearings I am trying to grease/reuse or that I will damage the wheel. Is there another way to remove the bearings?
Thank you for your time and advice...Rick
Sometimes you can tap the bearings out from the opposite side with a socket that will fit inside the wheel opening,,but its not the best way to it. They could be "pressed in" with a hydraulic press. The tool may save your bearing race from getting F%#$%^KD up,,not sure
Do you have the kawi factory service manual? I can look in mine and see what it says. Theres 2 manuals to the KLR 650,,,the "base" and the "supplemental" you kind of need both I think because of design updates over the years. BTW,,,3,000 or so miles is not really that many miles on those bearings,,unless ridden in streams,,,lots of mud ect,,so you may just be able to clean,,grease,,,go.
