A rear shock/ linkage question
I'm hoping someone here has encountered this before and knows the best solution. I have an 84 600. The rear shock was extremely worn and due for replacement. I found one off a newer klr for a pretty reasonable price. When I pulled the old shock off the bike, I notice it's a bit longer than the new, later model shock and also, the diameter of the bottom holes is smaller on the new shock than the one I took off the bike. I can make this shock work by drilling out the bottom mounting holes to accommodate the larger pin that goes through it but I'm wondering if a better solution might be to replace the existing linkage with that from a later model. Does anyone have any thoughts or opinions on this? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
