Goodbye to the tweet

I recently sold my 2000 klr 650 and upgraded to a 2003 klr 650, the only problem was the 03 had the dreaded exaust tweet. Thanks to the many posts I took some advice on using a flat scew driver and a hammer and slot cutting the inside exaust tube at 12, 3, 6 and 9 o'clock, the tweet is gone with very little noise increase. thanks for the info .

Old thread but still relivant...

I untweeted my 06 KLR tonight...
Flat screw driver at 12 o'clock about 1" to 1.25"....a little better
Another 1" to 1.5" slot at 6 o'clock...gone!!!!

Did not significantly change the sound. All is good.

Twitter is lame anyways... So good riddance. Lol. But seriously. I haven't noticed any issues with my 2008. So maybe it's another tweak they made with the update.

"If you don't ride in the rain, you don't ride."
"Work to ride and ride to work."
"Accidents hurt - safety doesn't."

I screwdrivered mine a couple of years ago and sort of miss the Aircooled VW sound

Could the air pump and catalytic have something to do with the Gen2 not tweeting?
