NGK DPR8EA vs DP8EA

I replaced my plug today - the one that came out was a DPR8EA. The replacement was a DP8EA.

Anybody know what the difference is?

Tom

I think it means "resistor".

No noise in the MP3 player, though, so seems OK.

Yep that's it. I think you would be more likely to have interference with an am/fm radio but I guess it's possible for other electronics to pick up interference.

That "R" signifies a "resister plug". The base manual for the GEN I bikes recommends the DPR8EA. 2010 bikes spec the NGK, DPR 8EA/9 plug.

Using the stock resister cap, you can run the non-resister plug. If the cap has been converted to a solid core, use the resister plug.

You may experience static in your AM radio in the absence of spark plug resisters. It may also put you in the cross hairs of people who own rifle scopes AND watch TV off of antennas.

I prefer to be called "frugal"..

I'm never home.. Why pay for satellite or cable when nobody but my cat is here to use it??

Ok.. I'm cheap..

Oh, and I own several rifle scopes, but none are big enough to squeeze Tom into.. They're only 1" tubes.. I'm guessing he'll get really claustrophobic inside one..
