First test ride after all the mods

This is on my '09 650.
To date I just broke 1500 miles, (got it last Sept.)
As soon as I got it I did the following........
1 The Doo kit
2 Thermo Bob's kit
3 The .22 mod, 2 #4 washers, 1 richer main jet, 2 1/2 turns on the air screw, tossed the snorkle, drilled 3-1" holes in the top of the air box, 2-1" in the cover. (put some air filter foam over the holes), drilled the slide hole out 7/32 drill.
Ran all right, just like my old KLR ('07)
Switched to Amsoil oil.
Feb came @
I dropped on the Lexx muffler, made a dash.
Odered the KLX 300 needle, spacer, 44 pilot, Happy Trails nerf bars.
Today I fianlly got time to install all the new stuff.
The exhaust had been on for a few weeks, like the sound, but I could tell it was lean on the bottom.
The Happy Trail Nerf bars were a real pain to install!
I dunno what it is about this bike, but when I put the muffler on I had to make a spacer to install the muffler, and with the bars after 4 hours, of trying to figure out how to make it all fit, I had to make spacers for the bars that go across the frame?????
Turn my attention to the carb.
The needle went in no problem.
I installed it 1 clip lower, (richer)
I dropped in the 44 pilot, turn the air screw in to 1 turn.
Fired it up......................
Final setting on the air screw, is like 3/4 to 7/8 turn.
Took it out for a test ride.
The acceleration is boosted by a good 40%!
It pulls HARD now!
The exhaust sound "throatier" now.
Over all it runs WAY better now.
Over all good choices.
Next up grade.................
The rear tire is just about gone, (Key-Rist I only got 1500 miles outta it, I bet it may just make 2000 miles).
I have a 14 tooth front sproket to install when I swap out the tire, (I want to lower the rpm on the highway).
This is it, the KLR is done, no more goodies for it!
Joe

A 14T will raise your RPM's not lower. You will need a 16T to lower the RPM's.

I hear you on these tires Brother. My tire wear rate is that not far off from my track bike. I have noticed that they do seem capable in rock though, which really surprised me.

Slip of the keyboard there. I did order a 16 tooth sproket, as well as a new chain, (I figured as long as I was there............

I've said that before.

Yeah me too!
I've got 2 other bikes that need $$ attention.
My newest money pit is a '74 beemer, and my '90 H.D. needs motor work.
My KLR is my dailey ride, so it gets used and abuse

The problem is that there are too many "farkle" books that come. I figure if they went to all the trouble to mail them to me, I have to look at them and then I start to drool!

It's a weather worn R90/6.
It was in a fender bender in '98 and the butt head parked it on his porch since then.
I got it fired up, straigthen the frame so far and have the front end back on.
But as I tear it apart, I'm finding more little stuff, (master cylinder rebuild, horn relay, etc...
Bob's BMW is becomming my newest best friend!
