Filling Tires

I have both a hand pump and Co2 tire filler and I am wondering how many 12gr. CO2's to pack for filling my tires, front and rear each ?
The plan is to start with CO2 and finish with the hand pump.

12gr.. Is that the size for a pellet gun?? I would think 3-4 would fill a tire... BMW's tire repair kit that comes with bikes uses slightly larger cartridges and 2 will fill a tire..

So, why are you filling with C02?? I thought nitrogen was the hot ticket??

Cuz I already have a bicycle CO2 filler . The 12gr. are much less expensive than 16gr. threaded cartridges.

Someone PM'd me and was curious of the plug and how I had it routed on the KLR. Figured I'd take a pic. It just let the plug sit in the brackets where the battery drain tube was.

Here it is for reference. The top plug dangling is the other end that I cut off. Put a plug on it so I can still run it off the cig lighter in our vehicles if I ever need to.

The 1st ride I went on after getting it last year we used it. A guy got a flat and he was determined to use his foot pump (probably twice as big and heavy as this). We just stood there in the heat because he wanted to use his pump. He stepped on it a few times and it broke. Then I asked if he was ready to use it now. lol Pumped it right up.

I've got a big ride next weekend and my other bike doesn't/can't have a plug but I'm still taking it in case one of us has a flat. I'm sure someone else will have power if need be.

Thanks for the more detailed photos of your setup. Great idea and one I'm going to incorporate on my own ride.
