Aluminum Skid Plate Noise

I've noticed quite a bit of engine noise being reflected up to my ears since installing an aluminum skid plate. Has this annoyed anyone else and if so, what did you do to reduce it besides ear plugs? Spray on bedliner on the top side, rubber strips where it contacts the frame, shag carpet?

Yep it happens. You can do just as you said and put bedliner on the top or stereo shops have a material called Dynamat. It'll drown out the sound quite abit.

Try a piece of foam or packing insulation or anything that is sound deadening and easily available.

OK, I picked up a rattle can of Blue Magic Pure Rubber Coating for <$6.00 at the local Fleet Farm store and gave the top side of the skid plate four coats. The reflected sound is now at least 50% less and much more tolerable. The Dynamat that Savage mentioned would likely deaden the sound better but I wasn't sure how it would hold up to the elements and don't think there is a sound shop in the area. Easy & cheap enough fix for an annoying problem.
