Mefo Users, What PSI Do You Run?
I don't have a great deal of experience with tires and when my original Dunlops got worn out, I replaced them with Mefo Explorers.
With the stock Dunlops, I stayed within a few psi of the recommendations in the manual depending on what surface I was riding on.
I noted the Mefos have a max psi of 41 for a full load, but that doesn't really tell me much.
Anybody have any recommendations on what pressures to run them at on the highway? I don't know if the pressures listed in the manual are kind of generic and apply to most tires of similar design and size or what. I'd like to get the most out of the design while trying to ensure they last as long as possible.
So far, on the pavement, I've run the rear at 30 and the front at 23 and it feels pretty good. On gravel, I usually run at 28 rear/21 front.
Any opinions about whether I'm on track or not would be appreciated. I weigh 270 and probably carry about 25 pounds of extraneous crap on my KLR, but I don't load up for camping or anything like that unless I'm hauling 50 pounds of carp home from my favorite fishing hole.
