Idle speed changes

I have an 09 with 2300 miles and I have noticed that the idle speed is higher after it has really warmed up. After starting, even after it has warmed up enough to keep the choke open, it runs about 200 rpms slower than after I have riden three miles or more.
Is this normal?
I set the idle speed at 1200 - 1400 rpms per the manual. That's fine because that's what it fluctuates between. I read that some of you run it at 1100 rpms. When I set it there warm, it idles at 900 when cool.

Yep, it's normal. The throttle position is the same, letting in the same amount of air and fuel, if you will ... but the oil is thicker, taking more power to be pumped... the cylinder is cold, sucking heat out of your combustion process, stuff like that - this is why it idles at a slower speed when cold.

still on original piston, rings, entire top end. Just an Eagle doohickey, torsion spring and a Thermo-Bob, of course!

OT - nice to see you here on this forum! How many miles have you got on your chain now?!?

Thanks! I need to update the web page but here's what's posted at present:

http://www.members.cox.net/watt-man/ChainWear.pdf

The stocker went 34,000 plus on WD-40 alone... the cheap replacement (non-o-ring) wore in pretty quickly - I put 21,000 miles on it before replacing everything. The stock rear sprocket looked quite good at 55,000 miles!

I then tried an aftermarket O-ring chain - it wore VERY quickly by 8,000 miles so before I screwed up the sprockets, I went back to a Kawasaki chain at the 63,000 mile point... the old "Kryptonite Special"... and I'm now at 69,000... and haven't even had to adjust it once yet.

I'm sold on the factory chain, period. It looks like this chain, based on my past data, will take it to 100,000 miles.
