Will Doo change get rid of rattling...?

My 2009, and every other KLR I've been around, has a rattling / banging sound on the left side of the engine when you first start moving in lower RPMs. After the RPMs start building I either can't hear it or it goes away.

Will changing the Doo spring and / or the Doo itself get rid of that? It sounds like an old lawnmower that's getting ready to give up the ghost. It's been like that since new and I know there's nothing really wrong because I have heard it on other gen II KLRs.

Please advise.

Thanks.

Rich

Gday Rich i think i know what you mean. The new spring will pull on the doo which will take abit more slack out of your CB chain, you will get a whirring sound.I didn't use a spring on mine just used my finger to set it.What was abit of a worry for me was the bearing the doo runs in.

Isn't there a tensioner to adjust that?

Still not sure I understand... how would I adjust it? Forgive my ignorance on the subject.

It's in the manual, and while I can't look at Youtube while at work, I think this will send you in the right direction..

I don't car if 15 people post the same thing, as long as the guy who needs the info actually gets it!!

The big question is, Hellbilly, did it quiet the bike down??
