Dunlop 606

Goal has always been to set-up the KLR (gen II) for off pavement. Beefed up the suspension, added protective hardware. Recently swapped out the rear OEM tire (2000) miles for a Dunlop 606. Spent some time at a friend's farm (wooded and hilly) this weekend, MAJOR transformation!! Had planned to pull more miles out of the front but will be going with another 606 shortly. Wouldn't recommend them for strictly hardroad but the Dunlops rock off-pavement.

606's will bite pavement well... But I'm fond of the Maxxis 6006 for all around woods action as well as burning pavement getting to the woods.

Garage
Put the MT21 on the front. It's a much better dirt AND asphalt tire.

+1

MT21 front and a 606 back was the best combo for my last dual sport, a Suzuki DRZ 400.

Appreciate the info but already have the 606 on order (due monday). Maybe next time around for the MT.

Spooned the 606 on the front and headed back to the farm. Don't know how they stack up to the MT but it takes the bike to a whole different level compared to OEM. Planning to head down to Mark Twain National Forest next week for a real test.

Finally got the chance to get down to the boonies for a proper test of the 606's. Awesome off pavement. Handled deep gravel, dirt, water crossings and a little mud with no problems. Also tackled some steep gullies. Stayed away from the single-track this time (hip is still tender from the last time out).On the down side they howl lounder than TKC's on a Strom and seemed a little squirrely on pavement at 60mph. Probably not the tires for a commuter but off pavement they rock.

(Much better on pavement after a couple hundred miles- 10/09/11)
