Winter Projects

Here's what I've got planned for the KLR this Winter. Anybody think of anything else they'd do?

-Check valves (first time, at an estimated 6500 miles).
-Check wiring harness for rub spots. Apply dielectric grease to all connectors
-Lube control and speedometer cables.
-Disable side stand switch. (Still debating on clutch switch.)
-Remove/clean/lube swingarm pivot bolt/bearings
-Check wheel bearings
-General overall nut/bolt check/tightening.

Other standard stuff like battery, air filter, oil change, chain clean/lube, etc.
Also going to add another auxiliary light.

Doohickey and .22 mod already done.

Headset bearings, spokes, loctite on every bolt you can get to.

Good ideas that I'd never thought of. Thanks, Spec. It's gonna be nice to have three months or so to mess around with the KLR at my leisure.

You seem to misunderstand the marketing logic at Kawasaki. They make the KLR cheap so you can buy two. That way you always have one to work on and one to ride. I'm sorry, I thought everyone already understood that. You could switch things up and get a Sherpa for your 2nd KLR. Tell your wife it gets better mileage than the KLR so you need it. (Just like you talked her in to the KLR).

If I have the bike down long enough I will do the valves, rewire aall the crap I have hooked up, maybe try to lube up the swingarm pivot point. I have modded this bike enough already
