I am planning on doing the valves and the doo on my 2009 KLR this winter and was wanting to get a service manual. Are the Clymer manuals any good or should I spring for the Kawasaki manual? I prefer a book and not the CD.

Hey vwh2o. I' have both manuals and the info is pretty much the same from what I've seen. I actually downloaded and printed out the Kawasaki manual from a third party whose link doesn't seem to work anymore...(hmmm) as an inexpensive alternative to the dealer manual and mostly to see what the difference was to the Clymer. I carry the Clymer manual in the pannier when on extended trips because of it's smaller size. Either way you'll have GSTK (good sh*t to know) at your fingertips.

A Clymer manual is certainly much better than nothing. Having said that for the two jobs that you want to do there is lots of info freely available on the net with pictures and descriptions. Actually better than any manual.
