Bold new graphics (each year, in turn)?

[08-'12, operationally same-o, AFAIK (though some improvement in piston rings may have occurred, quietly).

Kawasaki official specifications continually state the latter-day bikes have single-piston rear calipers . . . not so, they're DOUBLE-PISTON.

The mount for the rear brake petal holder changed form aluminum to a solid steel mount for 2010 I believe.

KLR 650. 22c mod., 160 main jet, snorkel removed, Vance and Hines pipe, crankcase vent mod., PCV mod. removed. 16t and 42t sprockets. Rotella.

In my opinion, NO! I personally know and have ridden with '09 KLR650 owners who have no excessive oil consumption problems.

In the opinion of someone who believes himself to the The World's Greatest Living KLR650 Authority, ALL Generation 2 ('08 and later, including the 2013 models yet to be manufactured) are oil burners; this profound and respected moderator on KLR650.net will address this problem (or this potential problem) for a nominal fee, in his Canadian shop (installing a 685cc big-bore kit).

Haven't seen this individual post on this forum that I recall; however--he knows all, sees all, tells all on several other websites (mostly recycling patter he's read himself on the Internet).

So, individuals disagree on whether '09's guzzle oil or not. Fact-of-life in my world; ANY internal combustion engine may BECOME an oil-burner; when this misfortune occurs, it can be cured.

And, if it can't? Hey, you put GASOLINE in it, right? Why not OIL? Two-stroke riders do it ALL the time!

I had an 09 and brief moment of tardation i sold it, but i made money on it .............................so ta speak, i got back out of what i put into it. So i pulled the trigger on a 2011 Blue Ice as id like to call it. 5200 out the door from a dealership that i'd never spent a dime at. Nice people, good service will definetly return for service work.

oh yeah my 09 never burned a DROP OF OIL EVER, neither does my buddies, but every 08 i seen heard of did, but i never owned an 08 i just have to believe my friends. Got my suspension on the way from MuiltiSurface MS/TOP GUN, great guy to deal with, priced right.

Well, OF COURSE IT BURNS OIL, JTAYLOR! YOU REMOVED YOUR PCV VALVE MOD!!!!!!!!!!

Hey, just funnin' you; in my view, the PCV valve mod is as effective as . . . oh, never mind!

Yet, tell us more!

HOW MUCH oil does your '09 burn?

You say it burned oil since new; what was the response of the selling dealer when you approached him for warranty service?

Lol, I know who your talking about! His name rhymes with "Sillys" does it not? Under 5000 rpm my 08 uses none, get it up around 5500 though and it sips a little. Oils cheap, so unless it starts using tons or fouling the plug I'm leaving it be.
