Aftermarket Exhaust

I know you all must be thinking "Oh great, this thread again" Well I searched the forum for past threads and I still had some questions unanswered lol

I've been looking at a new exhaust for the 08 and I found the staintune exhaust

I love how it makes the bike sound, like a big dirt bike, not like a sport bike... how ever, I have only found it for 6-700$

I've seen most pipes going for cheaper, anyone know of anywhere I can find one cheaper?

Or any cheap slip ons that sound similar? Youtube was full of videos of various pipes, but so many are poor quality and I cant tell how they actually sound... Anyone have any good experiences? Or complaints about other pipes?

I know absolutely 0 about exhausts so I look forward to both this discussion and a search for those previous threads. In the meantime, anyone know anything about the Lexx Performance Exhaust with MidPipe. Allegedly allows you to switch from race to forest-friendly with the twist of three bolts while providing a small HP boost. It's cheaper for sure, but I can't find anything in the way of reviews.

You will get minimal power gains on a KLR by changing out the exhaust. You will however make it much louder... Less Sound = More Ground

Try the low buck exhaust mod first, many find that it satifies the need for a throatier exhaust note.

Where are you? Best bet would be to find someone local to hear the sounds.

Staintune, yeah, they're just expensive! Good, but expensive.

Oh forgot to add, it doesn't matter what you do to the exhaust, it still sounds like a KLR. Far too big and lazy an engine to have a proper dirt bike sound. Mine sounds more like a quad than a bike.

FWIW this video is with a Lexx MXe slipon. http://youtu.be/F8HDoLZqHl4

You'd be surprised. KLRs are everywhere, and the early ones sound just like the later ones.

See my edit. That's a Lexx on my bike. I've put about 5000 miles on it so far. Springs are a little short, other than that it's been just fine. It's loud without earplugs in, but that has more to do with how it echos in my helmet. Helmet off, no earplugs, it's not too much louder than stock.
