Radiator fan sound. Yes or no?

Can you hear your radiator fan kick on? Where is the temp guage needle when yours turns on? I was at a stop light yesterday and the temp guage was a little over half. I soon as I took off it dropped down to the quarter position. Never heard the fan.

Thx, RedPill

Garage
Mine came on for the 1st time this week. 105 degrees, I parked and let it sit and idle for a couple minutes and it kicked on. Barely heard it but I could see it moving.

Mine doesn’t come on till at about 3/4 shown on the gauge, don’t know the actual temp?

Can't hear a thing but can definitely feel the hot air getting blown past both my legs. Being winter here it is not bad blowing hot air over you but I can see this being a bit uncomfortable / annoying in summer.

Thanks for asking the question since I was wondering the same thing. I'ts been 99-105 here & at stoplights the temp goes up to about 1/2 but never heard or seen the fan come on. After a couple blocks the temp goes back down to 1/4 or lower. Sounds like it's normal from what the others have said on here.

My 2012 fan is so quiet that I can't hear it come on. I've looked when stopped at a light and seen it going, but very little or no sound. The bike never overheats, even in the worst Atlanta rush hour traffic.

The fan on my computer makes more noise than my KLR fan. I can't hear it. I let the KLR sit and idle in the driveway from time to time, watching the fan and the temp gauge to confirm it's still kicking on. I think the only time it ever kicks on is when I do this test.

LOL, yep did the test and it is coming on at about 3/4 up on the temp gauge. Now I don't have to hear it because now I realize what all that hot air blowing on my knee at a stop light is! It doesn't make hardly any noise. Plus I am hearing impaired in my left ear,(and the hearing aid doesn't work well with my helmet) so that also may factor in why I can't hear it.

Thanks for the replies.
