getting bike prepped for the iron butt 1000 Qs

ok guys im prepping the bike for a saddle sore 1000 with the IBA .
anything you can think of to make this trip a good one ?

i installed heated grips this weekend , put on a set of Rox adjustable risers , put on a new set of hiedenau k60's , picked up a awsome new helmet and teknic jacket and Klim lines pants .

full service done 60 miles ago chain and sprocket look good and oiled ..

i have air compressor and full tool kit ,patches slime and plugs 3 tire irons
gps and maps duct tape ,electrical tape bungies and straps . i have my camel pack holds 3 quarts and all my road snacks ,id and such ..

Should i bring my camping gear ? i usually have a bivvy bag and tent against my back , i find it comfy on long hauls , but thinking might be nice to pack a bit lighter ..

thanks
wayne

any experienced folks help me out in right direction ..

Make sure you're comfortable, hydrated (as in carry a camelbak) and a good credit card..

Remember, a 15 minute nap will seriously refresh you..

and make sure you record everything.. Receipts are proof.. Save them all, and if you don't get one for something, ask for it.

Disclaimer: never take advice from someone like me who hasn't done what you are attempting.

Free advice: whenever I ride long distance (for me) per day I get off either of my bikes for a couple minutes at 1/2 fuel range, then again when fueling. It helps a lot on the later part of the trip. Looking forward to your "SS report".

IMHO....take your sleeping bag rolled up and use it to lean against....I find this the best way to keep my back in one piece on long trips.
Why plugs? They won't work too well with tubes from what I have seen.....????
A heated vest perhaps? A handfull of energy drinks maybe?

Most of all.....a good nights sleep the night before........enjoy.....

i use plugs/patches for thos big holes in tires trying to keep tube in the tire ... and figured keeping hole filled keeps tire from tearing itself up any further .. mind you these are bigger th
as in a nail type hole .. more like bolt ..

i find its good to stretch even if only quickly every 160-180 miles . I have read others who said try not to make your fuel stop same as your rest stop so it forces you to get up and shake it off .

ive done many long trrips before on a bike, but never under the clock . It puts a whole new spin on it ..
