Check your bolts!

I know this comes up quite often but there is definitely a reason. The last couple days I have heard a weird vibration coming from near the pipe. Thought maybe it was a loose muffler bolt, checked em, no luck. Finally tonight I just started grabbing things (somewhat carefully) and seeing if they shook. Found my loose bolt. It was the bolt that connects the rear upper frame. Would have been a bad day if it had worked loose . The bolt is just above the top right corner of the master cylinder. Good catch. I already checked, but I think I will again...

Good reminder, Arctic. I found both mine had worked halfway out a couple of months after I got my KLR. Even though I Loctited them, I still put some Torque Seal on the heads and check them all the time.

today i was installing some aftermarket pegs and saw that my bolts holding them up had backed half way out not only do they hold the pegs up but centerstand as well either way be expensive mess .. and while at checked the sub frame bolts again (loctited in last time and rightside had backed off again ... short of spot welding them this ticks me off

I've lost the screws that hold the engine/radiator fairing to the upper cowling several times. I finally just got longer screws and put a nylock nut under the threaded clip on the cowling and haven't had any issues so far. I'm almost scared to look at the rest of the bike again

A KLR is not a motorcycle, it is a blank canvas with which to paint the rest of your life.
