Moose Racing Handguards?

Yesterday, I went to my local dealer to replace one of the factory hand/brush guards. I allowed my self to be talked into getting a set of Moose Racing handguards with the aluminum bars. After dry fitting and looking, it appears that they will not have enough room to clear the factory clutch/front brake levers. Has anyone tried these guards? I am curious if it just my eyeballs or if they actually won't work.

A KLR is not a motorcycle, it is a blank canvas with which to paint the rest of your life.

I couldn't get the Moose bar mounts to work. I ended up buying these Tusk bar mounts

If I had to do it over again I would just buy the Tusk Aluminum Handguards and mount whatever shields. I've got them on a dirt bike and they are great for the money

few weeks ago i had written a thread about same thing .. pissed me off i ended up using some aluminum 1/2 spacer at the clamp to clear clutch and brake levers ..

they were still too close levers for my liking and when my side stand failed again it prooved my point and bent my clutch lever any way ..also the large moose guards suck for any real weather protection ..

my fix is twisted throttle's and thier original barkbusters and storm guards !
here was my thread on same issue ...

If you want to keep the Moose guards you could get a pair of "shorty" levers. I have them on another bike and really like them.

I think that I'm gonna return the Moose guards and go with the Tusk ones. I thought about trying to modify the Moose ones but I'd rather not waste a bunch of time and make them unreturnable. Kind of pisses me off that they were sold as fitting universally but like that saying "one size fits all", I guess KLR isn't universal.
