Final Fender. Fender Final ??

I've been dithering for weeks on which front fender to put on the bike. Some looked "OK," but not quite. Then I read Spec's reply to my original fender story. Till then I'd never heard of Cycra, but when I went to their site I liked what I saw.

Here's stock config for comparison. Looks awkward to my eye and I'll never need the mudding capability.

Then I dropped the front fender down and it's OK, but I don't like the lines of it and still have the sail effect on the highway. On the rock road the other day, this set-up bottomed out badly, too, but the new Progressive front fork springs cured that. Love those springs.

........and the Cycra fender in place. I don't like the fender sitting right on the tire, either, but this - to me - looks about right. It took some careful shimming to get the angle. I know that each config has its adherents and everyone has their own opinion, so here's my statement. It comes real close to what I had in my mind's eye. I'd be slightly happier if the back of the fender was longer, but I can live with this. I have 2 rock guards stacked in front of radiator, so should be safe there.

That's it. Done customizing and "Larry-fying." One more task I learned about when researching the forks is to go thru the steering head and that will be done pretty soon. It's all tight and stable now, but I want to keep it that way.

..........Lar.

Looks good, biglar. Unusual praise from me because I think I'm the only person on any KLR site who actually likes the stock Gen2 front fender.

Final note on the new fender. I was out on a ride a couple of days ago and had a really nasty, gusty crosswind - 20 mph with gusts to 30.

I've seen many posts on how the stock fender catches the wind and so many people liked it so much better when they replaced it with something smaller. I hadn't really understood what that was all about, 'cause wind is gonna blow a motorcycle around, right ?? I found out real quick that there are degrees of getting blown around.

With the new Cycra fender the bike went thru those gusts like it was on rails. Now I understand what so many people have said. I'm sure the new rear spring and progressive front springs must've had something to do with it, too, but I could sure tell the difference.

...............Lar.

I've been in some nasty winds here in Arizona, but have learned to live with them. I don't mind the stock fender at all, but yours looks pretty nice! Just not nice enough to make me part with my hard earned money to get one. :-)

God Bless,

Cliff
