SW Motech crash bar question.

I have a 2012, I just installed the Motech crash bars and when I took a look the Left side has only an inch space between the fairing & the bar & the Right side sticks out much more, I think the Right side looks proper. Are they supposed to be the same on each side? I installed the spacers the same on both sides of the front mounting holes, this is the new style with the rubber grommets in the front mounting holes behind the front tire.

I have the earlier bars on my 11 and can just fit my hand between the bars and the fairing, about the same on each side.

O would assume they need to be asymmetric along the lower profile of the tank because the left side has the petcock but can't think if why they'd stick out farther from the sides. I'm curious to hear what you find.

I just installed them on my 2009 and I never noticed a difference in the two sides. So I just went out and took a quick measure--the left side is about 1" away from the faring and the right side is about 1 1/4 inch away. The difference just might be my "quick" measure. Hope that helps.

So as it turns out I went and took a look at the bars then another, then another, then looked at the few remaining parts that were left over after the install. There were 4 small spacers in the bag so I installed them on the Left side and that brought the bar out the same as the Right side so I will call it complete. Seems strange to me that you would have to install 4 small pieces rather than 2 bigger ones to get the same effect, maybe there is something wrong but it all looks good and seems to be a good fit & finish.

Mine are off to. I can't remember which side is further out. They were already installed when I bought the bike and I can't decide if it bothers me enough to fix it or not.
