new exhaust Big Gun on a 2012

First post here. Been lurking on this site for last 10 months ever since i bought my new 2012 blue and white klr. Love the bike but always felt it needed more.

So i scored a whole big gun exhaust muffler ad header for 175 bucks with 2 hours use po said too loud

So i put it on and rejetted i love it. I like loud and pulls harder ad has more torque.

So question does this sound right for jetting? It runs real good but wanted insight

145 main. 42 pilot. Air screw 3 turns out. One washer shimmed under needle and uni air filter. Air box stock

Engine alll stock with 2000 miles i hit just today on a canyon ride in livermore this thing is like a beast now i am really digging it now

I just repacked my BigGun minutes ago.... Jetting is sufficient but I prefer the taper of the KLX needle, more adjustability too. Your big head pipe and full flow can you need more air in. I suggest pulling the snorkel and the Lmod. You will get alot of different opinions here but my bike with the KLX needle on the 3rd groove, 142.5 main and 2 1\2 out on the mix screw with the UNI and airbox mods I suggested ran a beautiful, flat, AF mix on a dyno. You definitely need to open the airbox though.

Welcome to the forum.

Maybe you are new to motorcycles but loud is not good for the sport of motorcycling. You might like loud but all the other people that have to listen to it don't.

And remember, you live in a country where you have rights, and laws, and regulations regarding noise. Your pipe is within legal decibel levels for the road, the forest service, and has a USFS approved spark arrestor. "Loud" is a subjective term and as long as you are within the limits of the law it is your right to run whatever pipe you want.....

All Big Gun exhausts are for closed course use only and are not intended for use on the road. Big Gun exhausts are NOT LEGAL for sale or use on pollution controlled vehicles in the state of California.

Did you read something in thstI didn't print. I said it was within legal decibel levels. You wanna whine about noise, talk to your congressman and petition to have the laws changed, until then stop trying to implement your own standards.

I did remove the snorkel forgot to mention that and just adjusted the air scew to 2.5 turns. it feels even better now.

As for the peeps here concerned about my noise on my Big Gun it is awesome. I ride street only have a 2 stroke for dirt. I rode with the stock quiet pipe for 10 month had lots of close calls no one hears you coming. Now with noise that you all say is bad I am no longer having people trying to merge in my lane or cut me off. they hear me first! Then SEE me so I am a strong believer in loud pipes saves lives!!!! Now for dirt such as forest yeah too loud but for street which the bike is for in my use PERFECT. you ever see a quiet Harley???? Nope

You're giving bad information. The Big Gun exhaust is not within legal limits that's why the disclaimer on their site. The EPA standard is 80 db. There's an embossed label on the OEM muffler that states that.

There is not a street legal aftermarket exhaust made for the KLR. The California model KLR has a catalytic convertor also.
