A second set of wheels

I'm thinking a second set of KLR wheels / tyres would be good - a guy could have some nice sticky smoothies for vibration free really lean it over dry road riding, and some good ugly knobbies for gravel / dirt / off road / snow... quick change over from one to the other...

So I checks on Bike Bandit - rims $220 & $311, spokes approx $4 ea, rear hub / sprocket / brake / misc - over $700...front hub & brake disc over $500...

I sez to myself, "that's a lot of beer and pizza.."

Even if you buy just a second set from a part out you will be lucky to get away at $400, that is the cheapest I've seen.

I have thought about it also, as I had a set at one time. It was me who sold the set for $400...lol. If you can change a set of tires, how long does it take you? Was my thinking......I didn't need to change tires that often to make it worth the extra set of rims. But if you go hard every weekend then maybe it is. It's apersonal choice as many things are...no wrong answer.....just expense...

I was watching Craigslist for a long time and a set popped up about an hour north of me. I jumped on them and consider myself lucky, but keep looking.
There are a few guys out there that "super moto" their bikes with alternate rims and sell them to finance their projects. Watch FleaBay also, just takes time but well worth it. I can swap out a rear in about 12 minutes with a cup of coffee in there too.

I was lucky enough to pick up a set of wheels complete with rotors and sprocket and decent rubber a few years ago for $300 or maybe it was even less. I know I got a smoking deal and could probably sell them for more. To be honest I don't switch the wheels out as often as I though I might.
