Hand guards.

Iím looking for suggestions on hand guards for my 2011 KLR.

Most of the posts Iíve been able to find, are at least a year or more old, and Iím wondering if products available now have improved or made to install with out having to modify the bike to mount them.

Suggestions on brand, ease of install, how they protect ( real life experiences? ) etc.

You're looking for more protection than stock?

Yep!

Some "fall-down" "tip-over" pro'tech.

Clean install is also good?

I have BarkBusters on my bikes. Strong and durable, a little fiddly to install. They have been around many years with good reviews.

Rocky Mt. Tusk handguards best bang for the buck IMHO.

For me, the ultimate would be an aluminum guard to protect the levers during tipovers that would also allow me to keep the giant stock plastic guards for wind/rain protection. I don't think anything like that exists. I, for one, really like the stock handguards but I've already broken one in a mere driveway tipover and Sardog1 sent me a replacement.

Amen to that! I have the Barkbusters with Storm plastics and I'm very happy with them.

Note the stock (I think - mine has them anyway) bar ends are pretty significantly long - if the bike tipped over and slid, it would be on your crashbars and these bar ends.

I'd be concerned if replacing with those bar ends up there, it looks like they eliminate those bar ends - is that true? Or does this just work in conjunction with the stock bar ends?

I'd like to add hand protection without trading away the crash protection, if possible - sounds like that's what the OP is looking for too.
Do you know? Do you have those? Any installed pics?
