Signal Switch Relocation

Looking to see if anyone else has my type of problem. My left hand is partially paralyzed rendering my thumb fairly useless. I was wondering if anyone has ever modified of found an aftermarket right hand(thumb) operated signal switch.
Thanks,
Steve

Welcome to the forum Salipton!

How about something like this:

It would be outboard of the throttle housing quite a bit though. You could replace the throttle housing with something from a dirt bike and just put a kill button on somewhere.

Thanks Spec,
I'll see if I can find something locally to fit before I go tearing my bike apart.

Just last week I seen a switch mounted on the inside of the hand guard. It looked as it could be switched with your fingers. I didn't see the owner so I couldn't ask how we'll it worked. Bathe bike had aux lights so I'm guessing it was for them. I wish I had taken a picture

Interesting question. A quick perusal of sites catering to motorcyclists with disabilities led to a lot of solutions for clutch and brake levers, shifters, throttles etc. but I could find nary a thing about turn signal switches. Might want to contact AMA and see if they have any leads for you. I think they work pretty closely with some of these organizations and might be able to help you out.

Just wondering if there's any reason you couldn't just swap the standard left & right switchgear units over?

Have the indicators & lights on the right hand and the starter / killswitch on the left, both of which you can get by only using at a standstill with your index finger if necessary.. only issue I can see would be the brake-light switch wiring, which you could either pull out of the sockets and re-wire into the other one.. or just extend the wires back over the handlebar at a push?

Another suggestion: Get an appropriate toggle switch from a local auto parts store, or electronic supply shop. Mount it in a location where you can reach it with your other fingers.
Toggle switches come with a variety of handle configurations. Some are spring return, center off-toggle left/right, etc.
Make a bracket to hold it where its accessible for you, then run existing turn signal wires to it.

My temporary fix is what larry31 suggested. I went and bought a mini 3way toggle switch and will install it this weekend. I'll leave enough wire from the old switch to be able to hook it back up again. I will in the future to buy a full switch unit with separate choke to replace the original equipment. Similar to what Spec suggested. I'll drop some pictures on once I'm done. Thanks again for the suggestions.
