OEM rear tire mileage

How many miles should you expect out of the stock rear tire on a 2012 KLR? I'm at 2000 miles and my rear tire is getting close to the wear bars. That just doesn't seem like a lot of miles. I ride 80/20 with the 20 just being log roads/dirt roads. Thanks in advance.

Mine didn't last much longer than that (2500 maybe) and, you're right, that's not a lot of miles. Seems to be pretty common, though.

Planalp is just about right. I got a little over 3K out of mine; and I really should have replaced it a lot earlier.

Remember, per Kawasaki'sd literature, "The Dunlop K750 tires are not meant to be used on the street or off-road but perform best on the dealer's showroom floor. We suggest you replace it upon leaving the dealer or at 5 miles...whichever is first."

I have not seen yet a new vehicle or motorcycle that gets any mileage our of the original tires. It is about 30% of what you expect from them. I am now running Kenda and have more than double my dunlop tire and still has plenty of life left. There must be a conspiracy between the original tire manufacturers and the vehicle/motorcycle manufacturers....

I am at something like 5200 miles on mine and my rear is almost wore out. Front looks like it did from day one. I have been doing all pavement riding so far.
