Dead bike

This morning I went out to start my bike, turned the key on and the lights came on as usual, but when I hit the start button the starter turned maybe a 1/4 turn and then quit. Now it's dead as a door nail. The lights won't even come on. The battery is new and the safety switches are bypassed. Any ideas where I should start looking? 2008

If the battery is new and your connections are good I would be thinking the main fuse if nothing works. I have seen new batteries before that were dead though, have you tried trickle charging it?

Kinda sounds like the main fuse though if your lights aren't even coming on...

It was a blown main fuse. I guess I need to start looking for a short. I thought I saw smoke after it started, but it's dark out. I'll check it out tomorrow. Thanks for your help.

Try it again in the dark, might be able to see the location of the short if it's arcing to ground.
