What's this hose.

After riding I noticed a hose hanging from under the rear fender on the left side. It almost goes all the way to the end of the fender. I would guess some kind of vent hose, but vents what? Thanks.

I'll have to do some searching where the other end is, as I just got a Deka AGM like you recommended, and did not find any hose end in the battery case. Thanks.

After removing the seat, I see there is a vent metal tube on the lower part of the gas tank, I plan on getting a vent tubing for that, where do I need to run the end to?

Got to thinking again, dangerous I know. If the tube that goes all the way back to the rear fender is for the battery, which tubing goes to the bracket holding the battery in place? On the outside of the battery case are loops which appear to be for holding some kind of tubing?

Sorry my memory is fuzzy, it's been about 4 years since I had the OEM battery.

I have a California bike with lots of hoses (er.. had lots of hoses!). I'm thinking
the rear fender hose comes off the charcoal cannister under the left side cover.

The Marknet site has a good tutorial on removing the California stuff. He has a hose diagram for the Gen 1 that should be pretty close to a non-Cal Gen 2 KLR.

Does your tank just have one vent line (mine had 2, 1 is a return)? You can run the tube down into the swingarm area like the carb vent lines are run. Gas vapors are heavier than air so you want the vent to end fairly low. I used one of the long tubes off the charcoal cannister.
