I know the Thermo-Bob has its following; however--I know of no maintenance issue associated with the stock cooling system, operated within safe limits.
Nevertheless, IMHO; YES! You must burp your radiator for optimum cooling, Thermo-Bob or not.
Same way; run engine with radiator cap OFF 'til thermostat opens and coolant circulates freely, expelling air from system; shut 'er down, top off radiator and reservoir; button 'er up and ride on!
After the thermostat opens, again, Thermo-Bob or not, ain't no difference in cooling system operation, AFAIK
If you receive different instructions, vis-a-vis
burping, with your Thermo-Bob, I defer to the manufacturer's guidance.
That said, the Thermo-Bob definitely stabilizes coolant more thoroughly, and at a higher temperature, than the stock cooling system. The product appears well-designed, thoroughly tested, and competently manufactured.
My friends have 'em and are happy with 'em; I just remain unaware of any problem the Thermo-Bob solves, any reliability, durability, or performance improvement offered.
YMMV; and--the Thermo-Bob, "First, does no harm," to paraphrase the Hippocratic Oath.
