Does the '08 have enough "juice" to run lights?

I'm thinking about installing some extra lights down low on the forks but was worried that I'd have to run 35-Watt lights like on the old model. I realize they upped the power output on the new bikes, but I don't know by how much.

Is it enough that I wouldn't have to install an LED tail light to compensate?
I'm not running heated grips or any extra "goodies" this time around.
(I have a cell phone charger, but that's it).

I have heard it was upped enough to run extra electrical goodies, ie: heated vest, hand grips and so forth, so would think it should run aftermarket lights ok. Go to Kawasaki's site and check the specs on the bike, I am pretty sure that is where I am recalling my info from.

Previous ride was a 2007 KLR Black/Silver, I miss it..
Looking to get back into KLR's sometime soon.

extra lights

I would not recommend adding additional lights. Have you already? How did it go?
I added two 55 watt lights and found it to be too much. Now I am working on beefing up the stator and working on installing a third stator (due to the replacement being faulty) fun fun fun! At least I am getting familiar with the bike

With my '05 KLR I added the LED tail light to help balance out the power draw. Have you tried this yet?

LED TailLight

Where did you get your LED Tail Light? How well does it work? Did you have to hardwire it in or did you find one you could plug-in?

Back in '05 I bought it from DualStar, but I hear there's another source out there (shhhh) that sells it for a little less.
Oh wait, can I say klr.com on this site???

The one I bought simply plugged into the light socket and had several flashing modes. It worked fine.

Do a search on .net and you'll likely find the one I'm talking about.

When I up grade to my new 250 watt stator will it handle 55 watt lights along with the higher watt headlight and wiring harness? OR will the new head light be enough ? Would led's be a better choice for aux lites ? Thanks!
