I use a sealed Gel battery. The BikeMaster TruGel has been in my bike for about three years now.
It's little more expensive, but no maintenance is a good thing for me.

apexbattery.com has been good to me for years, especially for special fits.

I think that's what I'm running. No vents, $65 shipped.

I had one of those adventure power in my vt500 and it was good. Pretty much any AGM will rock over the normal lead acid.

Believe it or not,
Most of the add water batteries, (size for size ,YB14L-A2 vs YTX14AHL-BS) have a Higher amp hour rating (reserve capacity), than the Absorbed Glass Mat (AGM) batteries.
14 AH vs 12 AH.
The AGM, YTX14AHL-BS, may have a slight initial MAX Cold Crank Amp rating, but the standard battery, May Crank Longer.

Keep your valve tappets adjusted (loose end of Specs.), and NO Problem.
But, Yes checking the fluid level can be a pain in the butt.
Food for thought.
