Here's a question from Australia that you North Americanos may be able to help me with.
I've got a 2008 KLR, you've seen pictures of it before:
I've banged it about a bit over the last couple of years and on a recent ride part of the fairing, the sort of "wingy" bit that joins the lower fairing just forward of the filler cap, broke off at the fastening.
It was always going to happen as the fatigue cracks had been growing for some time, this last ride was enough to break it. only noticed it missing when I got home.
I had a bit of a wander around the net and found a mob called " Babbits" over your way who have an excellent web site with lots of exploded diagrams and so on, and I found the part i need:
It looks like part number 55053, the letter after the number seems to designate the colour and the side, left green/black, right silver/black and so on. All priced at $136.51
Hmm, I notice that there's no red.
Okay, so I have a look at the 2009 page :
Ah, there it is. But wait, the part number is now 55028 with a letter after it and the price is significantly lower, $85.45.
The part I want is listed right there " COWLING,UPP,LH,S,RED $85.45"
I don't want to order it and pay the shipping to Australia to find I have the wrong bit.
Is there a mistake somewhere or could the same parts be so much cheaper for an '09 model. I mean really the only thing that's changed is the colour.
Any ideas? Suggestions?
Thanks from North Queensland (bit soggy at the moment, we are experiencing the wet season)
