HID problem

Hi everyone,

I have an 08 that has HID in both headlamp spots. I got the bike this way and now one bulb, high beam, has burnt out. I was never too happy with the setup and now that I'm reading all about these, even less so. The assembly was never retrofitted to properly project these bulbs, I don't even know if that's a thing. They certainly lit up the road with the high beam on, but the low beam is close to worthless both to see or be seen. I've been considering mounting led lights, like this one: http://www.aliexpress.com/item/free-...077014480.html ,but I'm sure it's not really road legal.

Any thoughts on whether or how I could properly project the HIDs, LEDs, or should I go back to stock and lose the spare watts (which I could really use).

i personally think your better off going back to the stockers and mounting another set of led lights. jmo. there are a few threads on here you can look up to see others set ups.

Neither an LED or HID retrofit would be considered "legal". I agree with the suggestion to return to the stock halogens and then using LED auxillary lighting. Be careful with the cheap LED's coming out of China. Most are just exactly that - cheap. I've been down that road.

You might something here: http://clearwaterlights.com/index.html

And another vote for going back to stock. The 08's had pretty decent lights from the get go. And with a good set of aux lights you only have to use them when you want to.

Quick follow up:

I took the HID kit out. I put Sylvania H7s in. I had to replace the wiring harnesses because they were H4 harnesses wired for 2 wire. Too wide for the stock H7s. I have no clue how they got there. And my retaining wire had to be bent a lot to hold the H7s. The HID kit was H7 style, so that's weird too. I'm holding on to the kit. I might try it again if I can figure out the reflector issue.
