2104 klr650 h7 question

I want to order a headlight modulator for my 2014 klr, does anyone know if the dual h7's on the 2nd gen are japanese or Euro h7 sockets?
thanks

Ouch, kinda harsh for only giving anyone an hour to answer ya.

Does it matter who made it? Isn't it all the same? And if you're using it with a modulator, wouldn't you wire it the same?

I thought the point of bulb type designation was to standardize the bulb ie; it shouldn't matter who makes the H7, it should be an H7.

I thought that was an odd comment, so I went and looked over your posts.

You've received prompt and multiple responses to every one of your questions, and you've been cultured enough to thank people for those responses.

I hope you'll stick around.

kyxon is correct; an H7 is an H7, be it a Chinese, German, or Japanese bulb. The Gen2 KLR does use an adapter from the harness to the bulb, but shouldn't get in the way of hooking up your modulator.

I see your post on .net . I clicked the link for the product they suggested over there and it explains the difference between the two *different* H7s. I didn't know there were two.

In any case, you could measure yours and then you would know which you have BUT I would bet that it's the Japanese style since your Kawasaki is a Japanese bike. I've got a gen1 or I could go measure for you.

kyxon -

Gah! You're right, we're talking bulb base, not bulb envelope.

moooboy -

The Gen2 has an adapter that adapts Japanese to European. The harness has Japanese connector spacing, but the bike uses European lamps via the adapter. I presume the modulator plugs into the harness and onto the bulb. You would need the Japanese version.

I will take some pictures for clarity.

Here are two adapters, positioned so you can see the front and the back.

Here's the front side (the side the bulb plugs in to), showing the European spacing of 12.5mm:

And here is the back side, showing the Japanese 15.8mm spacing:

And here they are with a lamp plugged in:

Sorry all, this wasn't the only place i posted my question and then i get thread hijackers with non related posts over and over and it pushes my questions back and they dont get noticed. I've been trying to get an answer on many forums for several days and was very frustrated.
Thanks to those that did, its much appreciated.
Anther question, does the adapter have to be used if someone didnt want to and use regular h7 bulbs?
thanks again
