Indeed. I have searched for the last two days here and elsewhere for a definitive answer. So I post to put it to those most experienced. Much is written about carb changes when adding a Lexx pipe, but nothing to satisfy what I want to do, to wit:

I am kicking around the idea of running a Lexx pipe with the quiet core installed and no further modifications to the air box, at least not yet. That is no snorkel-ectomy, no holes no nuthin. Stock air filter. MAYBE an air injection block off if I absolutely must.

I am thinking the .22 cent mod will be enough to richen the bike back up under those circumstances, but far from sure. From what I gather most use 1 #4 washer at least at first so maybe 2 with the pipe?

As an aside, with the fuels we use containing so much corn-squeezins, is reading spark plugs even reliable anymore?

I don't think you would need to do all the mods everyone else seems to do just to replace the stock muffler with the Lexx one. Might have to block off the air injection and richen up your idle mixture is about all. The bike will let you know.

Ye, your spark plug still does tell a tale.

I'd pop out the snorkel to aid inhaling.

It can be put right back in if you don't like it.

I'd guess you'll like more airflow as that's what's happening on the other side of the head.
That'll keep a decently balanced and efficient stage one.
Easier breathing on both ends, keep the element clean, and one
washer is fine. Sounds like a great setup, and mileage might even
go up a bit from the engine not working against itself as hard. The idle screw
might be helped by coming out another 1/3 to 1/2 turn. (all of us who have done this
are at 1 1/2 to 2 turns.

All engines have to work against themselves to run. There's friction, valvetrain drive,
valvespring pressure, and the largest of all, the compression stroke. Plus, we have
a touch of drag on the doo chain too. A combustion engine doesn't need any more
drag on it by forcing itself to inhale and exhale through a straw. (Which is the easiest
and cheapest way to meet EPA emissions maximums)

Enjoy the bike and the new pipe !!

PS. If you do no mods whatsoever it probably won't hurt a thing, either with
your baffle (quiet core) in place.
