oil leaking from crank vent tube

im leaking quite a bit of oil out of the crank vent tube {tube just behind the right footpeg},,,ok i know why,,i like to ride wheelies and from being tipped up that high its starts covering my caliper and rear disc,,,so i got off the bike for about 15 minutes and when i came out it had made a puddle about the size of a basketball,,,,steadily dripping from that tube,,,i cant plug it that would make pressure in the case i think,,any ideas besides quit riding wheelies,,,thanks in advance

Maybe re-route the tube up higher, say, under the seat or something. Not real sure that might help tho. I do wheelies on mine and I don't get oil seepage.

I had the same issue. My tube has a removable plug at the end. The issue for me occured because I overfilled the crankcase during an oil change. I changed the filter and put the 2.5 qts. in per owners manual but I was about 5 oz or so over. I noticed the next day after finding some fresh drops of oil on the pavement. I ended up loosening the drain plug bolt a couple times to get the additional oil out. All seems ok now and when I removed the vent tube plug the other day it was dry.

Hey guys, these KLR's take 2.5L not quarts. That would explain the overflowing.

I put in 2.6 qts or 2.5 L per owners manual and still was way over. I am not the biggest fan of the oil window gage.
